The building was supposed to have its morbid charm and the garden its wild character, complemented by all sorts of strange creatures and mysterious places. The interior was also designed by the master himself and surprised with architectural tricks, baroque textures and all sorts of symbolic romance. Today, the complex is open to the public as a surrealistic work of art.

Gala’s fairytale castle Púbol
Honestly, who doesn’t want to get a fairytale castle as a gift from their loved one? Sometimes dreams became. Just like Dalí and Gala. “I’m surrealism,” Dalí claimed. The gifted egomaniac, artist and self-promoter idolized his wife and muse gala more than anything else: “I love gala more than my father, more than my mother and even more than the money.” In doing so, he never made a secret of his material tendencies: “When I paint, one of the greatest pleasures is the awareness that I Scheffele gold”.

As a sign of his love, painter Genie Dalí once promised his beloved to make her a queen in a castle. In 1970 he finally kept the promise and bought the 15th-century Púbol Castle for Gala. It should only be her castle. Dalí designed the interior design according to Gala’s taste and his surrealist ideas. Many lovely details inspire visitors to the Castle Museum today.

Who wouldn’t like to have the golden faucets from Gala’s bathroom at home or a ceiling painting in the hall that promises heaven. The lawn sprinklers in the form of the spider-legged elephants in the garden made the neighbors pale, the Cadillac in the garage would be the party banger itself.
Perfect exalted ambience in the castle
Dalí provided a perfect exalted ambience in the castle, but had to promise his beloved to visit her only when he was invited by her. Apparently he was enthusiastic about this demand and he stuck to it.

The relationship between the two was special. According to rumors, Gala surrounded herself with young lovers at Púbol Castle.

When she died in 1982 at the age of 88, Dalí buried her in Púbol and then moved into the castle herself. He received his visitors on a throne. Dalí not only felt like a lord of the castle, he also wanted the title. Soon he could officially call himself Marquis de Púbol.
Salvador Dalí – a museum visit that also inspires arts
Since 1996 you can visit the castle and gain a little insight into the legendary life of Gala and Dalí. The art objects for living, the furnishing of the private rooms of Dalís Muse, their collection of clothes of the Haute-Couture, old photos from exalted times, the Cadillac – lots of glamor that is worth seeing.

A visit to the museum that is amused with a wink and also inspires arts of art.
Every summer there is a special exhibition under the motto Dalí – his life – his art – his environment.
