Be at the museum once in a lifetime! At the latest since the blockbuster “Night in the museum“We know that things are different, you experience unexpected adventures in some places and exhibits come to life. Ben Stiller Fight after sunset against the chaos in the exhibitions. Salvador Dali, one of the most important 20th-century surrealistic painters, was supposed to take us to his native city on this evening. Figueres lure and prepare us an interesting meal, as well as an impressive evening at the Dalí Museum.
He started with the surrealistic dinner in the Coordenades restaurant: at the beginning, sparkling wine and water were served, plus small starter appetizers that looked different than they tasted – surreal. The menu started with pieces of a watermelon dipped in gin, Magdalena’s olives and popcorn nibble sticks. This is how the evening should continue when a gelled onion soup in the form of the ubiquitous Dalí egg, framed by a foam of potatoes, was served.
“Winged” rock fish with almond chips as the main course and the right wine for everything. Finally, the dessert: mousse au chocolat, leaf chocolate, brittle crumble in a lake made of orange jus decorated by melting clocks – the melting time made of gelatine. Motto: Taste, look, marvel and just let it surprise you.
The conclusion of the menu was very clear: the combination of components that are not actually associated together make the charm and can even taste good.
That evening, around 11 p.m., we continued to the Dalí Museum, which the artist himself had once designed. The event “Dali at night“ is to visit all August and goes daily from 10 to 1 a.m. with the last admission at 11.30 p.m. and tickets must be ordered in advance on the Internet.
From the entrance hall we immediately reached the large hall with glass dome, which visitors can already admire outside the museum. The night sky was pictured behind the panes, stars could be seen and some visitors stopped looking up in the hall in awe. Others were busy turning on the light in a car standing in the room to observe the inside, obliquely looking figures, as they were poured over with water for a fee of only 1€ – for what purpose, however, remained hidden from us.
Through a tour, we were guided through other rooms, all of which contained different works of art by Dalí: some included large screens, others, or murals. Behind a curtain we discover the artist’s alleged resting place, which he is said to have been brought to after his death.
A rondel with a sofa, shaped as a mouth, a kind of shelf that gave an idea of a nose and two paintings, each with one eye, was received by a rondel. The snake to a round sight glass was long, everyone wanted to look through it to see only the certain neckline that was supposed to depict the face.
Passing wall paintings, oblique figures and portraits of Dalí, we reached one of the inner terraces on which a black and white film about Dalí as a person, artist and the construction of the museum in the former theater was shown. Equipped with a welcome sparkling wine, we sat on one of the benches and enjoyed the warm night air.
We linger a little in the mild August night breeze and then devote ourselves to refreshing Dalí’s gems. The collection “Dalí, Joies” designed by the Surrealist glitters like a thousand and one nights: brooches of gold with a Madonna in the center, in the form of a mouth full of bling bling or an eye whose iris reflects the passage of time… We would like to be lord of this treasures.
Breathless from the mass of artworks But impressed by the vastness of Dalí’s creativity and variety, we stepped out to the crowded alley where people were already heading towards Acústica – a music festival that is mostly free – to culture to experience a completely different dimension.
