Beaches and Coves

Holiday – sun, beach and lounging?

Das Dorf Rupit zählt zu den schönsten der Costa Brava.

I have to admit – I’m an absolute beach fan. When everyone in the shade is 40 degrees in the shade, I’m the only one lying on my beach towel on the beach, true to the motto: What – is it too warm for you? I have to soak up the sun for the long, cold winter! At least at such temperatures, I’ll force myself to use sunscreen so that I don’t look like a freshly cooked lobster in the evening.

I think it’s a fundamental phenomenon that people who don’t have the beach at home in front of their noses flee there immediately when they’re on vacation. Sea, sun, sand – these are all synonyms for relaxation, everyday life and enjoyment. And the view of the wide ocean provides a few small thoughts that most people don’t want to do without. I myself spent a lot of vacations on the two square meters of my bath towel, which I only left for a dip in the cold waves or a coffee in a beach bar, on some days the closest museum was then looked at so that the cultural program was not complete was neglected and I could give the impression at home that I got up close and personal with a foreign country. They weren’t bad holidays – they fulfilled their purpose in the sense that after two weeks I turned up in reality tanned and deeply relaxed and couldn’t get upset, at least for the following month.

In the meantime, however, a small stabbing in my chest is noticeable as soon as I give myself up for more than two days of sweet lounging. Already on my first day of the beach here on the Costa Brava, where the pale silhouette of the Pyrenees in front of the horizon was looming behind screeching children, swimming tires and banana boats, there was this whispering voice in my head, which I couldn’t Second rest let: What is there to discover? Since the Costa Live Magazine In any case, travelers like to lure travelers from the beach into the hinterland of the coastal region, I was happy to be driven away by my sandy towel to roam around a bit.

I haven’t been disappointed so far – on the contrary, I’ve now replaced my flip flops for sneakers, the bikini has been replaced with a t-shirt and pants. As probably most vacationers, the Costa Brava was previously known to me mainly as a photo-ready beach paradise that adorns many a glossy magazine. I am surprised every day how much the region has to offer away from this paradise. The rugged rocky landscape of the Pyrenees, where you have the feeling that you would run into a mythical creature from Lord of the Rings at any moment, mountain landscapes, with shreds of fog hanging between the hills and in which we are on a bumpy one at dusk Street moved, sleepy villages that take me back to the Middle Ages, rustic monasteries, extensive olive tree plantations. In addition, I have found that seafood and wine can be enjoyed not only with sea views, but also in small, hidden restaurants in the narrow streets of the numerous towns that you pass along the way.
So I hereby plead with myself: No more “lie lazy in the sun!” – It’s time to rummage through the curiosity back out of the dusty corner that she has moved into! National parks and stalactite caves, fortresses and castles, mountain lakes and campsites await me. Don’t worry, dear sea, after these voyages of discovery I’ll be happy to come back to you.
